GHR Foundation’s Education Program supports urban Catholic schools in addressing the achievement gap and building strong educational communities that prepare children to be college-ready, productive citizens.
To increase access and equip teachers with the tools to address diverse student populations, GHR recently funded a grant to support St. Pascal Baylon on St. Paul’s East Side and Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Maplewood, Minn. Specifically, the grant will fund staff cultural proficiency training and expand free bussing to allow elementary and middle school students to get to school more easily.
A St. Paul Pioneer Press piece on the grant quoted a joint letter from the schools’ principals that said, “This grant will help families more fully participate in the life of our school communities in order to ensure that residents of the increasingly diverse neighborhood feel welcome.”
