Overview: Peace Direct will provide a pathway to peace and environmental protection in fragile regions of eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo by partnering with local co-ops of ex-combatant small-scale gold miners. The miners, their families and local communities will receive psycho-social support to aid in the reintegration process while miners learn and institute more environmentally responsible gold production techniques, working toward the first fair-trade-certified standard for gold in DRC
