Global Engagement
GHR works locally and globally to help bring to reality the world we want to live in -- one rooted in dignity, equity and care as instruments of social justice for those suffering most among us. In this effort, we encourage a shared discovery of new paths forward whereby hearts, minds and structures are transformed, centered on those most vulnerable and marginalized. This work is inspired largely by our Catholic roots and decades of experience working with and among faith actors.
Who and what we fund is guided by two core truths:
1) All children deserve and thrive best in nurturing families or family-like environments.
2) The Catholic Church, related networks and allies can be a powerful force for good in serving, advocating, resourcing and creating space for the most vulnerable to lead the way forward.
How we fund is guided by principles of service and participation, supporting partners from behind, helping them achieve a bold vision. We know social change takes time -- decades -- and requires a collective vision, strong organizations, dedicated leaders, and dynamic exchange among communities (grassroots) and policymakers (grass-tops). These are the standards we strive to support.

Children in Families
GHR envisions a world in which all children — especially those at risk of losing or without parental care — are living in stable and nurturing family (or family-like) environments. |
Prepare the Future
With Prepare the Future, GHR affirms its hope and intention in realizing Pope Francis’s vision for the world, deeply rooted in Laudato Si’ and Fratelli tutti, where relationships among people, institutions and planet form on the basis of the common good. |
Programs In Transition
Following an in-depth review of program strategies and stewardship, we have initiated a multi-year transition out of discrete programs focused on interreligious action, Catholic women religious in the United States, and the BridgeBuilder Challenge. |
