Following a decade-long armed conflict, the children of Nepal are at an important crossroads. GHR Foundation partnered with Save the Children to fund a project to focus on the care and protection of children in jeopardy.
The Safe Communities project emphasizes that families and communities are the first line of protection for children, and that community-based care is a far more effective model than institutionalization. The project has been implemented for the care of more than 6,000 children in the Achham and Kailali districts of Nepal, and the ultimate aim is to use it as a model for the protection and care of children throughout the country.
