City Connects has been a long-time resource for GHR Foundation and its affiliate philanthropies. The organization serves as a hub of student support in schools, and was featured in a recent report on education entitled, “Condition of Education in the Commonwealth.”
In the accompanying 2015 Action Guide--Achieving the Vision: Priority Actions for a Statewide Education Agenda, the Rennie Center for Education Research & Policy prioritizes “developing a robust statewide approach to student support” as one of three means of addressing the challenges facing public schools. City Connects was cited as successful data-driven program that could, if brought to scale, lead to substantial progress in “attending to the whole child with comprehensive supports.” The Rennie Center stated “this approach would lead to significant improvement in student outcomes.”
GHR supports expanding the City Connects model in the Twin Cities, and the Foundation is eager to expand a coordinated, comprehensive, evidence-based approach to student support that can have a significant and lasting impact on student achievement.
